Good Friend/Good Marine:  Gomez was the best. He was KIA after I was transferred to Phu-Bai. I think of him often and I hope his family knows that he was an outstanding MARINE.

Cpl. F. B. Gomez “Go”

You have been gone for over 5o years, but you will always live in the hearts and thoughts of so many.

Every Marine that ever came in contact with you respected and honored you for your leadership and inspiration.

You made a difference in my life and the life of every person that met you. You are a true Marine that gave all.  Your bravery and valor was the ultimate sacrifice for your fellow Marines and your country.

I am humbled that I had a chance for you to be part of my life.

Rest in Peace “Go”

You Will Never Be Forgotten

Alpha Company 1st Battalion 7th Marines

Vietnam 1965-1966

I first met ‘Go’ in Nov 1965 when we had Battalion transfer from Phu Bai to Chu Lai. We swapped half of 3/4 to go to Chu Lai and became 1/7 and half of 1/7 to go to Phu Bai and became 3/4.  ‘Go’ was my Fire Team Leader and my best friend. We went on R&R together in Dec 65.  We were very close the whole time we were in A 1/7. I left Vietnam 5 days after "Go" was killed.
